Split Rims & Bespoke Wheels

WHAT ARE SPLIT RIMS?
Split rim wheels are different from standard one-piece wheels. Put Simply, rather than being one-piece they are made in two or three parts which are then bolted together. They are usually very easy to identify since they have a series of small bolts around the rim of the wheel. Because of the multi-part construction, they are susceptible to corrosion more than regular alloy wheels. In some cases, the outer edge may be polished and the centre colour coated.
These types of wheels can take longer to repair or refurbish due to the time taken to split them down.

Alloy Wheel Refurbishment Process

  • 1. Alloys & Tyres Removed
Removal of all tyres, weight, valves and centre caps.
  • 2. Safety Check
A safety check of each wheel is then conducted. During this process we check each wheel for cracks and buckles, as well as checking each tyre for damage and tread depth.
  • 3. Deep Clean
All wheels are then chemically stripped to remove old coatings from the wheel.
  • 4. Repair*
If required any damage to the wheels is then repaired.
  • 5. Media Blasted
    Wheels are then media blasted.
  • 6. Paint
All wheels receive an initial PRIMER coat, before being baked in our special high temperature ovens at 180 degrees for 10 minutes. Once primed, each wheel is then powder coated in the customers desired colour, before being cured in the oven for a further 10 minutes. Once the desired finish has been achieved, each wheel is then clear coated to ensure the wheel is fully sealed and protected.
  • 7. Quality Control
Each wheel is then inspected for quality control.
  • 8. Wheels Refitted
Once completed, new valves are fitted to the wheel before re-fitting the tyre. All wheels are then balanced and tyre pressures checked.
